Reubens Retreat Charity

Reuben’s Retreat – A place to relax and recharge, remember and rebuild.

Reuben was on holiday with his parents when a visit to A & E turned into the worst 7 days nightmare imaginable. He passed away in his mummy’s arms in 2012 aged 23 months. Just 2 days later Reuben’s Retreat was initiated.

Their aim is to relieve the distress of families bereaved of their child or help those where a child is complexly poorly and may face an uncertain future. They provide emotional and practical support through peer led support groups including online and outdoor activities, holistic therapies, one to one counselling, bespoke in memorial events among many other activities and therapies.
Their ‘forever home’ journey actually started in 2014 when they had raised enough to purchase the Victorian building formerly known as Wood’s Hospital in Glossop. They have steered their way through a long and exciting journey fundraising for this project. Gradually building and renovating the various parts of the building in their 10 phase planned project. There are still 4 more phases they
plan to complete.

Reuben’s Retreat is a place for families bereaved of a child to remember and rebuild, and for those with a child who is complexly poorly to relax and recharge, walking side by side with them for as long as they need it.
Marple Bridge and Mellor u3a have chosen this extremely worthwhile charity within our area for this year, to raise as much as we can to assist them to both progress with their plans and to run the retreat on a daily basis. Please support us during the year at our charity events and work together to raise as much as we can to these ends.
You can always make a donation to our charity at any time during the year.

Please contact any member of the committee to find out how to do this.
