Marple Bridge & Mellor

Thornbridge Estate

Members of the gardening group braved the elements for the visit to Thornbridge Estate. This time it was the sun and heat we had to content with - not the wind and rain!

The gardens were designed in the 1890’s to create a vision of 1000 shades of green. Now such a wide variety of trees and bushes. The beech avenue and other tree’ d areas provided perfect shaded areas. These along with statues, lakes and fountains, not forgetting the beautiful views across Derbyshire, provided us with a wealth of areas to explore.

The final visit to Chatsworth Farm Shop literally provided us with the cream on the cake! A super day.

Remember any member can join the gardening group visits, providing there is a place.
