Visit to Jersey - May 2026

Many of our members enjoyed an excellent weeks holiday in Jersey. Rewarded by perfect weather, a superb hotel and a wealth of different experiences. Just a few of which I have listed here.

The Lalique Glass Church, full of exquisite examples of his work, was gifted by the descendants of the owner of Boots the Chemist.

The Gerald Durrell Zoo with its newly opened Gorilla House. As commented by one of our group, “The gorillas had perfect manners as they ate cauliflower with their mouths closed!”

Our visit was also timed with May 9th, the Channel Islands Liberation Day, their 81st commemorative day. We were able to experience the reenactment of their liberation. Culminating in the raising of the Union and the Jersey flags over the old harbourmaster’s office and then the Union flag on the balcony of the Pomme D’Or Hotel. Followed by a procession through the town.

Such a wide variety of thing to see, from the beautiful countryside and beaches, the War Museum, the Jersey Tapestry etc etc.
A week wasn’t long enough and I’m sure many of us will pay a return visit.
