Chairmans Chit Chat
Congratulations!!! Our wonderful members have done it again. The August Charity Event was a resounding success raising £597.00 on the day for St. Ann's Hospice building fund, which will be added to the monies already raised and presented later in
the year.
Barbara and Greg from St Ann's Hospice were very pleased to attend and by the reception and interest shown in the project. We will be keeping in touch with them in the coming months I'm sure.
I hereby take this opportunity of thanking everyone who contributed in one way or another to the event. Without your support we would not be able to achieve any of it. You came in spite of the bad weather and were so generous in your contributions and donations. So many of you not only supported the event but donated raffle prizes, cakes, plants bric-a-brac, books and jig-saws, plus Ulla once again donated the lovely turtle for us to name, not forgetting all the "stall holders". A breakdown of all monies
collected will be shown by our Treasurer at year end accounts.
I have been told that should we raise £1,000.00+, a brick with our name on it will be built into the wall at the new hospice. So far we are on track to achieve this with the sale of the books and jig-saws. So, please keep bringing and buying them.
So a very big THANK YOU once again to everyone, Diane
NB The September meeting will start at 10.15am sharp.
Website
Dear u3a members, following on from our communication in July, we are pleased to say that we have now migrated the U3A
website to the new platform.
If you have accessed this site from the original website address (www.u3asites.org.uk/mbm), please update the address in your internet browser favourites/bookmarks to: https://mbm.u3asite.uk. As the old website address will be removed in the next few months and will then no longer work.
The new platform is similar to the previous site, containing all the same information, with one or two new features and a newer fresher feel. It also contains improved security and reliability features.
Over the coming weeks and months, we plan to introduce further enhancements, such as updating photos on display and making it easier for potential new members to join the u3a.
We hope you enjoy using the new site.

About Marple Bridge and Mellor U3A
We are a group of local retired people in Marple Bridge and Mellor who have formed a branch of the "University of the Third Age". We are affiliated to the THIRD AGE TRUST. Some of our interest groups are run jointly with other local U3A branches who are members of the Pennine Link.
Our monthly meetings are normally held at St Paul's, Compstall, SK6 5HU; in the Church Hall on the 3rd Thursday of each month. There is limited car-parking within the grounds of the Church and additional Pay and Display parking is available at Etherow Country Park.
The Hall is equipped with a loop system so that members with hearing difficulties can listen to the speakers. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served before the formal meetings begin, giving members an opportunity to chat to friends and to enrol for the various activities. Members are charged an admission fee to cover the cost of refreshments etc.
The attendance fee is £2 for members and £2 for visitors.
We have many interest groups which can be viewed via the "Groups" link above. If you are interested in joining, you can be assured of a warm welcome. For any further information regarding our association please contact either the Secretary or the Chairman .
